Welcome to Islamic Renaissance
renaissance - a renewal of life, vigor, interest, etc.; rebirth; revival
Islamic Renaissance is dedicated to aiding the development of
Muslim-American culture, by providing platforms for cultural
expressions that maintain itself within the context of the Islamic
law. After many brothers and sisters have traveled into the Muslim
world, from Africa to the Middle East, from China to Malaysia, they
have all been affected by the wonderful fusion of Islam and the
culture at large, only to come back home and see the stagnant growth
of Islam in terms of the people's ability to allow our American
culture to flow through the auspicious of Islam, and become refined
and renewed.
For too many years we, as Muslim-Americans have lived poorly mimicking
other culture's traditions and ways, without truly understanding, and
sometimes forgetting, who and what we are. The models that the
cultures of other lands, as rich as they are, are not always
compatible with the country that we live in, and if we as
Muslim-Americans are going to make it work then we have to have a
baseline from which to work with. This baseline has existed from the
conception of our country, we just have not looked into how to harness
what we have and "Islamatize" it. Instead we are trying to re-invent
the wheel and/or trying to make this land like it's the Middle East,
which is a formula for disaster.
Islamic Renaissance encourages the development of those elements which
bring about the age of a Renaissance, that being the arts of Poetry
(spoken, and written), visual arts (paintings, sculptures), theater,
and music. Islamic Renaissance encourages social change through
Islamic and Secular education, and entrepreneurship, all within the
context of Islamic law.
